Good point Viv but I was thinking in terms of the camera not being in use until the 1700's but I suppose naughty drawings could have been printed before that. Either way, it's the same kind of logic that came up with the notion that Birthdays should be banned because someone got their head cut of at one back in Bible times. If he'd have been living in the 1700's he'd have been among those who said that Satan was behind the invention of the printing press because he wanted everyone to have access to printed pornography.

With 8 million members there's no way they're going bankrupt. Each member could donate $1 each month and it would tide them over.
All I want is for my family and former friends to see things for what they are. I don't care if they still want to be JW's....just admit that it's a hoax or at least that God's not going to kill everyone who's not a JW.
It's hard to imagine that anyone seeing the things that are going on lately wouldn't feel at least a little freer to entertain their own doubts and check into things more than they have in the past. Especially since so much information is available to them these days.

about me: i was essentially born in & indoctrinated from youth.
i was always a borderline "bad association" type because i always did the minimum and always disagreed with much of what was taught; even when i was a child.. luckily for me my father was never a jw so i never had to endure the male head pressure.

Funny how it is that after you stop attending weekly funeral services (ie meetings), suddenly life seems a whole lot brighter. As for the residual anxiety, remember you've been systematically trained since childhood to see things through doom and gloom - end of world filters. It will take time to undo that nasty habit but it can be done if you work at it. Read up, on retraining your thinking patterns with positive thoughts and affirmations. Like a lot of guys, I thought it was a lot of hooey at first, until it worked !
I know of quite a few JW's who have left but still carried around for decades their JW induced guilt and worry because they still think it could somehow be the truth. Glad you got out early and have discovered this place. The more you learn about the other side of the JW story, the courage of your own conviction on the matter will be a comfort to you.

So Brother Knorr spent his entire adult life at Bethel. Does this mean that even after he died of Cancer back around 1977, he still has to keep an eye on things at Bethel?
If he can look in on the Pioneer School classes, what's to stop him from checking to see who's gettin' frisky in their rooms?

The MEDIA: articles in the newspaper about Jw's are not truth, what
they say on the internet about jw is not the truth. These are inspired
expressions of error. Stay away from newspapers and news on the
internet. Unless you read something flattering about JW's .....then what the media says, is true.
2. HIGHER EDUCATION: Some associated to congregations feel that if you want to be successful you
need higher education-Inspired error because you are not putting the
kingdom first. You will have to study and miss meetings therefore this is an inspired error to be avoided at all cost. However, if you have a higher education, you will be more likely to be given a special assignment at Bethel instead of cleaning toilets.
3. IF YOU SAY: the end is coming but not in my lifetime---inspired error. Can't say that because the end can come at any moment. Yes, the end could come one day but the rest of the time, it doesn't.
the other day the glass in my oven door exploded and sent glass into the next room, fortunately i wasn't peering in at the time.
about a year go the previous oven door shattered one morning.
the oven was cold.
That only happened once when I used Gun Powder instead of Baking Powder.
Seriously though, I'd Google the make and model of your oven or look at the manufacturers website to see if there's been some kind of problem with your stove or maybe a recall. That could have ruined your whole day !
i've been df'd for about six weeks now.no one has broken the obligation to "honor the disfellowshipping decree".that's the way notorious co paul kohler describes the "loving arrangement" that is jw shunning.

so, my wife's family has been "loving me" ( barf ) when out of nowhere, one of them sends home homemade soup for me.... well, i got super pissed.
Wasn't the edict not to so much as "break bread" with an unbeliever? I'm guessing that was meant to include slurping soup as well.
Seems like they are trying to communicate with you in the form of gifts of food. It sends a mixed message. "You're to evil to talk to but we'll be nice and send you some soup and you should be grateful about it "
